Oliver ‘Son’ Strong

    Oliver Wilson “Son” Strong, 64, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at Owens Livingston Mortuary in Holbrook. Interment will be at the Holbrook Cemetery.
    Oliver Wilson Strong, known by family and friends as Son or Sonnyman, the oldest of six children of Mary Louise Taylor, was born on Sept. 14, 1946, in Forest, Miss.
    Oliver was a graduate of Holbrook High School. With the exception of living in Portland, Ore., and Las Vegas, Nev., for a brief period of time, Oliver lived and worked in Holbrook all of his life.
    Survivors include his mother, Mary Taylor of Pomona, Calif.; a son, Henry Alverez of Winslow; two sisters, Perci (Almond) Brewer of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Vivian Taylor of Flagstaff; two brothers, Robert and Herbert Taylor of Pomona; two nieces, Amber and Lisa; four nephews, Jamal, Koury, Dandre and Tre’; a great-niece, Francien; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him.
    He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents and his brother, Maxie Joe.
