Larry L. Baker Sr.

    Larry L Baker Sr., 61, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Flagstaff Medical Center after a long illness. Holy rosary was recited by Rev. Pat Mowrer on July 13 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winslow. Funeral Mass was celebrated July 14 at the church, with Rev. Michael Vigil officiating. Interment followed at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
    He was born on Nov. 15, 1946, in Cushman, Ark. He moved to Winslow in 1956, where he attended school. He then served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany.
    Over the years he was self-employed with many businesses, ranging from the Arco station to the Rock Room. He was employed by Arizona Public Service Co. at Cholla Power Plant, and most recently at Value Tire and L&M towing.
    His hobbies included going to the casino, golf and having coffee with the guys, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
    Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Diana; three children, Billy Gene Baker (Gene Merritt), Larry Baker Jr.  and Christie (Scott) Klimkowski; three grandchildren, Paige, Lauren and Presley; three sisters, Marlene (Bill) Bridges of Savannah Ga., Pat (Bill) Collier of Flagstaff and Nancy (Alex) Ballejos of Win-slow; two brothers, Fred (Lucy) Baker of Prescott and Darrell (Cathy) Baker of Winslow; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Baker; his mother, Nola Baker; his brother, Ricky Baker; and his sister, Wanda Burnett.
    Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
