Edgar Cheshire Ramsay

Edgar Cheshire “Edd” Ramsay, 90, died on Monday, July 7, 2008, at his home in Snowflake. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, in Snowflake.
    Edd was born on Dec. 2, 1917, in Snowflake to George C. and Mary E. Ramsay.
    He left Snowflake for a short time when he graded roads with a mule team for Tanner’s. He helped build roads throughout Arizona.
    Edd met the love of his life, Nellie Alton, while working in Morristown. They married and returned to Snowflake to raise their family. Edd and Nellie were married more than 50 years.
    During World War II, Edd served in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at Treasure Island in San Fran-cisco.
    After the war, he worked for Navajo County as a blade man. He retired from the county after 30 years of service. For a while, he was also a blade man for the Town of Snowflake.
    Edd’s true passion was farming. He loved working on his farm and sharing vegetables from his huge garden.
    Survivors include his loving children, Charles Kay (Christine), Ron (Sara), Gayle (Roger Slade), grand-son Ken (Dinah Hall) and Betty Ramsay; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Mel.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, and his grandson, Aaron.
