WHS Golfers Defeat Sedona

    The Winslow High School golf team defeated the Sedona Red Rock team with a low score of 186 to 223 for the Sedona team. The match was played at the Oak Creek Country Club Course on Monday. Winslow Coach Ted Pate reported that the match was played in weather that was cold, overcast and windy.
    The nine-hole match was won individually by David Aberle of Winslow with a low score of 43, two strokes better than teammate Andrew Sanchez’s 45. Sedona only reported one individual score, that being Scotty Thompson’s 47. Other Winslow scores were a pair of 49s by Levyn Ben and Chris Ramirez, and a 57 by Sam Miller.
    The Winslow golf team was to play at Show Low on Wednesday and Snowflake on Saturday, then at Holbrook on Wednesday, March 17. That match will be followed by the Safford Invitational on Saturday, March 20.
