Winslow Lady Bulldogs Earn Decisive Win Over Chinle

    The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Chinle Lady Wildcats 67-34 in a 3A North Region basketball game played in Chinle Monday night. The win improved Window Winslow’s record to 6-3 in the region and to 19-4 for the season. Winslow was slated to host Tuba City on Thursday and Monument Valley tonight (Feb. 6). Window Rock has virtually clinched the regular season regional title, but the Lady Bulldogs and Monument Valley are still in a close battle for second place.
    The Lady Bulldogs led 14-10 after the first quarter and 29-20 at the intermission. The third quarter saw the lead grow to a commanding 47-27 and the margin grew even more in the final period.
    Kourtney Shirley led all scorers with 21 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Jennifer Yazzie was also in double figures for Winslow with 10 points. Twelve players scored for Winslow to only six for Chinle.
    The Lady Wildcats were led by Nicole Tsosie with 15 points. She was the only Chinle player in double figures.
