WHS Pom Squad Wins Third Straight State Title

    The Winslow High School pom squad, under the direction of Coach Tamie Ramsey, won the state title for the third year in a row in late January.
    Members of the pom squad include Anna Ricks, Alexus Sedillo, Serena Stewart, Marissa Chacon, Melanie Rivera, Tamry Ramsey, Sheyenne Sweet, Brittni Sorenson, Amber Garner, Dorothy Anne Lacy, Alexia Alvarado and Rebeka Mangus.
    Much like basketball, softball and other competitive sports, success in pom requires good balance and coordination, as well as the mental toughness to cooperate and perform as a team. The Winslow girls have established a tradition of success that shows they have paid attention, learned their routines and practiced them to acquire perfection.
    Winslow sports fans have enjoyed and appreciated the performances of the pom squad during other sporting event, such as at halftime at basketball games. This is one of the main goals of the pom squad, to provide quality entertainment at such events.
