Handgun Match Results NotedJuly 3rd, 2009
The results of the June Northeastern Arizona PAL Sportsmen’s Association Handgun Match included: Auto-1, Frank Lucero, Bill Wade, John Harris and Ron Piotrowski; Auto-2, Jeremy Peushold, John Saltonstall and Sam Bunger; and Revolver, Ken Peshlakai. Stage winners were: first, third and fourth stages, Frank Lucero; and second stage, Bill Wade. The weather turned out to be warm and windy. The first stage was a 15-round course that required sheer speed with accuracy. The second stage demanded movement combined with speed and accuracy. The third stage was a steel course of 17 steel targets. The fourth stage was a six-round course, which demanded a fast and smooth draw. The monthly handgun match with categories for pistol and revolver will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 11. You will need three magazines for your pistol and three speed loaders for your revolver, though four of each are much better. You may shoot both revolver and pistol, and both categories are scored separately. The maximum required hits per stage are about 18 to 24. Eye and ear protection are mandatory. Match fees for members are $5 per gun and for non-members, $8. The group shoots under USPSA/IPSC rules. Bring gloves, water, firewood, a snack and a pen.
