Pioneer Day Run Draws 161 Athletes

The 2008 Snowflake Pioneer Day Run held July 19 drew 161 participants.
    The run categories included a two-mile run or walk, and a 10K run or walk. Each category had a men’s and women’s division, with awards given for overall winners and age group winners.  
    The overall winners in the women’s division of the two-mile event included Angela Shields, first in a time of 15:26; Arona Spader, second in 15:42; and Cindy Strasdas, third in 17:13. Winners in the men’s division included Nick Stratton, first in a time of 12:44; Russell Peterson    , second in 13:01; and Aaron Thomason, third in 13:11.
    First place winners in their respective age categories of the two-mile event were Kaylee Davis, Tamra Hunt, Angela Shields, Kaylee Smith, Cindy Strasdas, Lucy Yesslith, Ginny Camping, Mindy Hatch, Shanna Hatch and Loyelin Acheves.
    Overall winners in the women’s division of the six-mile event included Autumn Gibson, first in a time of 46:41; Bridgette Solomon, second in 47:14; and Cindee Nichols, third in 48:21. Winners in the men’s division included Brandon Day, first in a time of 36:57; Erick Waterman, second in 42:55; and Andrew Boone, third in 43:32.
    First place winners in their respective age categories of the six-mile event were Autumn Gibson, Laura Boone, Bridgette Solomon, Cyndee Nichols, Lois Waterman, Tara Kay and Cathy Willis, who also won her age category in the Taylor Celebration Run held earlier in the month.
    Race officials offered special thanks to the Snowflake Municipal Golf Course for the use of the facility and to all those who helped with the event. Thanks also go to Frontier Estates/Hall’s Realty, which co-sponsored the event.
