Area Habitat Partnership Committee Meetings SetJuly 11th, 2008
Local habitat project opportunities and proposals for Game Management Units 3 and 4 are the primary discussion topics for the next meetings of the Show Low and Winslow Habitat Partnership Committees. The Arizona Game and Fish Department will host the Show Low committee meeting on Tuesday, July 22, at the Pinetop Game and Fish office. The Winslow committee meeting will be held on Thursday, July 24, at the Black Mesa Ranger District office in Overgaard. Both meetings begin at 5:30 p.m., and department officials encourage public participation. Wildlife Manager Supervisor Bob Birkeland said, “Department personnel will lead a discussion on habitat improvement project opportunities for Units 3 and 4. We will also schedule habitat improvement work projects that include volunteers helping us with activities such as repairing fences at water catchments or removing unnecessary fences that are detrimental to wildlife. This is an excellent venue for local sports-men to find out how they can get involved with Game and Fish activities and interact with field staff on a personal level.” Arizona’s Habitat Partnership Committees consist of landowners, sportsmen, organizations, state and federal agencies, and other interested individuals seeking to enhance wildlife and livestock habitat through cooperative projects. Committee members also work to resolve habitat issues.
