Century Ride Benefits FMC’s Taylor HouseJuly 9th, 2008
For the eighth year, The Taylor House Benefit Century Ride, sponsored by Absolute Bikes, will give many avid cyclists and citizen riders the opportunity to ride through the amazing views of Northern Arizona while benefiting a good cause. The Taylor House is a special home away from home for the families of patients who are being cared for at Flagstaff Medical Center. The 95-mile route winds through historic Flagstaff, Wupatki and Sunset Crater national monuments, and back to Flagstaff Medical Center. For those not wanting to complete the 95-mile loop, there is a 45-mile loop ride to the Sunset Crater turnoff and back, and a 65-mile loop to the Painted Desert Vista Scenic Overlook and back. For those wanting to complete a full 100-mile ride, there is an additional five-mile loop at Sunset Crater. The ride will begin with a group start at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 19. Check-in begins at 6 a.m. Riders will leave from the Physicians and Surgeons Office Building at the corner of Beaver Street and Forest Ave-nue. A catered barbecue celebration will be provided at the end of the ride. There is a minimum donation of $50 per person to enter the ride. The first 350 registered cyclists will receive commemorative gifts with their donation. All proceeds will benefit The Taylor House, providing room nights for families of the patients at FMC who can’t afford them. The mission of The Taylor House is to provide lodging and supportive services in a caring environment for families of patients receiving medi-cal care away from home. Each year, 250 to 350 cyclists participate in this fun ride. For more information or to pre-register, call (928) 779-5969, or sign up online at absolutebikes.net.
