Winslow Planning And Zoning Commission Meets Tuesday

February 12th, 2010

The Winslow Planning and Zoning Commission will consider request for a conditional use permit and proposed amendments to the city code on the Route 66 Overlay when it meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the city council chambers, located at 1155 E. Second St.
Josephine Chavez is requesting a conditional use permit for home childcare at 1109 Front St.
The proposed amendments to Title 17.48, Route 66 Overlay, Section 17.48.020 Permitted Uses and Section 17.40.030 Property Development Standards follow, with the proposed changes indicated in bold type.
In Title 17.480.020, the amendments include an addition to item B, which states that within the commercial zone all listed permitted uses subject to property development standards in the R1-12, R1-7, R2 and MFR zones shall be permitted.
Proposed changes to item D include the additional wording that within the industrial zone all listed permitted uses subject to the property development standards in the R1-12, R1-7, R2 and MFR zones shall be permitted.
It is also being proposed that within item D which states, “All listed permitted uses in the commercial zone shall be permitted,” the words “with the exception of sexually oriented businesses, which are not permitted,” be struck.
Proposed changes to item E, include striking the words, “Within all zones covered by the Route 66 Overlay,” and adding, “All permitted conditional uses within all underlying zones shall be permitted conditional uses within the Route 66 Overlay, with the exception of sexually oriented businesses in the industrial zone, which are not permitted, and with the exception of one family and two family dwelling units in the commercial and industrial zones, which are permitted.”
Finally, in Section 17.40.030 Property Development Standards, an addition to the statement is suggested as follows, “All property development standards of the underlying zones shall apply in the Route 66 Overlay except the setback requirements for nonresidential uses in the commercial zone…”
