Joseph City July 4th Celebration Offers Fun For The Whole FamilyJuly 11th, 2008
The annual Joseph City July 4th Celebration was again a resounding success. Members of Troop 159 raised the colors at the flag ceremony, and “Taps” was played by Brian Gardner and sons. A patriotic song was sung by adult siblings Claire Young, Lisa, Kim Shelley and Doran Shelley. Those attending enjoyed a visit by a Guardian Air helicopter to Tanner Park. Winners of the Ice Cream Churn Off included Jared Gardner, Chance Solomon, JC Smith and Evelyn Solomon, who won for flavor with an old fashioned vanilla ice cream; and Jay Miller, Sarah May Miller and Stephanie Farr, who won for quickest time while churning some caramel nut ice cream. Winners of the horseshoe tournament were Paul Hatch and Bill Guttery. The sand volleyball tournament was won by Heather Walker, Shawn Walker, Crystal Griffin and Darrin Griffin. The kids in attendance had a wide variety of games and contests to choose from, and seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly.
